ANZAC Recount

End Of The LineImage result for world war one landing boats

It’s 3.00 am on the 25th April 1915.  The landing boats have almost  arrived at  “Z “beach.  I have the feeling I’m going to die.I have adrenaline pumping through my blood.

I’m crammed  into a landing boat with 40 other soldiers. Everyone was dead silent as we got  closer to the landing site. I looked around at my friends and  they all looked  terrified.  I stopped looking around and closed my eyes.   All  I could hear was the sound of the calm waves swishing against the boats.

The moon dipped behind the clouds and everything went dark.  Then all I saw was a bright spark of light above me.  Suddenly a beacon of light was lit on land in front of me.  “ We have been exposed “ shouted the General.  “Take cover”.  BANG! BANG !went the guns on land.  BANG! BANG!

Most of my friends had died already.  Immediately killed by the rain of bullets that were pouring over us.  Soldiers were crying. The  bullets were spraying over all of the landing boats.  We were all taking massive hits from them.

All I could see was orange lights as if I was at an amusement park but this was a deadly one.  But this amusement park was not going to have a happy ending. I thought to myself is this the end of the line?

Reflection
In writing I am learning to write a recount.
I am so proud of being able to write a recount all by myself.
It can be tricky to write a recount and write using the right punctuation and no spelling mistakes.
My buddy can help me can help me by checking my work after I have finished.
The next step for me might be to write this again with a different subject.

You have put a lot of effort into writing your ANZAC Recount. I am impressed with how you have sequenced your recount and added details to allow the reader to visualise what is going on.
